Pleasant Surprises

We had a pleasant surprise in the Bindl house on Wednesday night. My sister, Jay, Jabari, Asia and Arbrianna stopped by to visit. This was their first time seeing our house. I was so excited to see them and have them spend the night. The visit was bitter sweet because it just reminded me how much I miss them. (I wish we could live closer to each other.) The kids had a blast! They were still playing hard at 9:30 when I finally had them go to bed. Jacob and Evan wouldn't go to sleep until they were assured that everyone would still be here in the morning.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by! (Jasmine and Cara... hope to see you girls soon too!)

Simply the Breast

We traveled to Minnesota this weekend to cheer on my mom and aunts (Kay, Joan and Janet) while they walked in the Breast Cancer 3-Day 60 mile walk. It is their second year participating in the walk. It was great to see so many people all come together for one cause. Jacob and Evan had their pictures taken by a couple people because they were carrying signs to cheer them on. Simply the Breast is their team name.
We were back in Madison by Saturday night so Sunday we decided to head out to Sun Prairie to eat some corn at the Corn Festival. Jacob stayed true to his picky self and stayed away from the corn but Evan loved it!

Fun Fest

Fun Fest in Spring Green was this past weekend. Nate and his friends play in the softball tournament every year so we spend the weekend there. It was very hot! Besides softball there are some fun things for kids to do too. The boys played all day long everyday. Their favorite thing to do was play Turtle Races. Turtles are let loose on a board with numbered openings (see below). You pay a quarter to pick a number (on a stick) and then bang the stick to make the turtles move and hopefully go through the opening with your number. If a turtle goes through your opening first then you win $1. Jacob and Evan won more times than not and ended up winning a fair amount of money.
It was a fun but hot weekend that ended in a lot of rain. Hopefully I'll remember to get more pictures next year.

Weekend fun with daddy

In addition to all the chicken fun the boys had more good times with their daddy walking through the neighborhood and having picnics at the park.

The boys are taking a birds eye view of the neighborhood.

Construction is in full swing again, giving the boys a lot to watch during the day and a lot to explore in the evening.

Next are some fun pics from the park.

See ya next time!

What happened to the baby chicks?

Remember those cute fuzzy little chicks? They have since grown up and fattened up so it was time for the annual butchering of chickens at the Bindl farm. Nate said the boys jumped right in and helped to catch the chickens. I wondered how the boys would handle the butchering part but Jacob told me that they had to kill the chickens so we can eat them. OK, I guess.
